I was one of the lucky ones that was chosen for the Andela Teencode program 2019. The 13 weeks program kicked off on 6th of April.

I was introduced to node.js at the Andela Teencode Camp. We worked on weekly assignments. Our last task was to build a Maintenance Tracker App.

Maintenance Tracker App is an application that provides users with the ability to reach out to operations or repairs department regarding repair or maintenance requests and monitor the status of their request.

How I Handled Frustration

Yeah, frustration is real. That’s my rubic cube. If you noticed, you can barely differentiate between the colors, that is because i apply pressure when arranging it. Most times i get frustrated that i feel like breaking my laptop. But if i break my laptop, how will i code when i’m calm. So the rubic cube suffered it.

My Motivation

I can’t recall the number of times i thought of quitting. Each time, i try to talk to people about the project and the problems i am facing with it. My mom was always there, brother Abass and the carton of mini cream crackers my brother (Adam) bought for me.

I wasn’t born to know it all. I checked for resources and asked questions. Google whom i made my best friend was there, also the best connection (Devs) i have for now.

It has been a wonderful experience so far.

The project git-hub link and the hosted pages

Here are some of the resources i used when building the app.

  1. writing tests with mocha
  2. configuring Vscode + eslint + airbnb
  3. configuring nyc and coveralls
  4. protecting routes with JWT
  5. hosting to Heroku
  6. setting environment variable on Travis CI
  7. solving blocked by CORS policy in the frontend
  8. solve regenerator not defined error

THANK YOU ANDELA FOR THE GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO IMPROVE MY SKILLS.
